The Milk Carton Kids Release Acclaimed New Album ‘I Only See The Moon’ and Announce Fall Tour

Grammy-nominated duo The Milk Carton Kids have captivated audiences with their latest record, ‘I Only See The Moon,’ which has already garnered widespread critical acclaim. Released on Far Cry Records in partnership with Thirty Tigers, the album showcases the duo’s ethereal harmonies and intricate musicianship, solidifying their position as a major force in the American folk tradition.

‘I Only See The Moon’ has been met with glowing reviews from various publications. PopMatters hailed it as a true album, with each track intricately connected to the others. American Songwriter praised the thoughtful acoustic guitar-driven song, “Running on Sweet Smile,” while The Boot described “When You’re Gone” as an earnest tale of lingering memories. Glide Magazine praised the album’s sweet sound and The Bluegrass Situation commended the duo’s exploration of arrangements in “Running on Sweet Smile.”

To celebrate the release of their new album, The Milk Carton Kids have announced a fall tour across the United States. The tour includes highly anticipated stops at prestigious venues such as New York’s Beacon Theatre, Chicago’s Thalia Hall, and Washington, D.C.’s Union Stage. Pre-sale tickets will be available via the band and Spotify on May 23, followed by promoter pre-sales on May 24. General public ticket sales will commence on May 25 at 10 a.m. local time.

In addition to their tour, The Milk Carton Kids will headline the inaugural Los Angeles Folk Festival, produced in partnership with the Los Angeles Philharmonic (LA Phil), at The Ford on October 7-8. This event aims to create a proper folk festival experience in their hometown, connecting the vibrant Laurel Canyon scene of the 1960s with the community of present-day musicians and comedians working at venues like L.A.’s Largo. The festival lineup includes critically acclaimed artists such as Waxahatchee, Sierra Ferrell, Valerie June, and many more.

Reflecting on their musical journey, guitarist/vocalist Kenneth Pattengale notes that making music together has provided a sense of purpose in their lives. Guitarist/vocalist Joey Ryan adds that their collaborative chemistry has been a special and enduring bond, akin to a successful marriage.

Since their formation in 2011, The Milk Carton Kids have achieved significant acclaim and success. Their debut album, ‘The Ash & Clay,’ received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Folk Album in 2013, followed by another nomination for Best American Roots Performance in 2015. Their third studio album, ‘Monterey,’ was critically acclaimed and their 2018 release, ‘All The Things That I Did And All The Things That I Didn’t Do,’ earned a Grammy nomination for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.

With the release of ‘I Only See The Moon,’ The Milk Carton Kids continue to captivate listeners with their enchanting harmonies and introspective songwriting, solidifying their position as a prominent and revered force in contemporary folk music.
