Remi Wolf Debut Album Celebration @ Elsewhere Review

Remi Wolf is one of the quickest rising names in pop music. Wolfs music has gained the backing of Beck and Dominic Fike, as well as publications like NPR, The LA Times, TIME, and more. Her hit song ‘Photo ID‘ has also blown up on TikTok and has over 10 billion views. Last week Remi released the lead single ‘Liquor Store‘ off her upcoming debut album.

On Wednesday, Remi celebrated the album which is set to be released later this year via Island Records. The celebration took place on the rooftop of Elsewhere in Brooklyn, New York. Fans filled the rooftop nearly to capacity an hour before Remi Wolf took the stage. The crowd erupted as Remi took the stage and greeted Brooklyn.

Remi kicked off the set in a surge of energy with ‘Rufufus‘ and ‘Sauce‘ and the crowd was electric. “WOW, I love you guys,” Remi Exclaimed. The crowd absolutely erupted as Wolf announced this was her first ever headline show. However, the atmosphere was so electric you’d have no idea it was a first. The full audience overlooking the Brooklyn skyline singing every word of ‘Disco Man‘ and ‘Monte Carlo‘ also made it hard to believe it was a debut.

Remi Wolf was born and raised in California. During her senior year of high school she was a contestant on American Idol. Wolf went on to graduated from the USC Thornton School of Music in 2018, and released her first music in 2019. Since then Wolf has quite literally blown up and amassed over 80 million streams.

Remi wasn’t just showing love for the crowd at Elsewhere. She was also showing it to her bandmates. After just four songs there was a solo for her drummer Conor Malloy, and guitarist Jared Solomon. During each Remi would lead the crowd in “We love you Jared,” and “We love you Conor” chants. It was a really cool moment, especially so early in the setlist.

Remi went on to play ‘Doctor‘ followed by the recently released crowd favoriteLiz.’ From start to finish the energy was outstanding in the audience as well as on stage. Wolf and her band were a constant burst of energy and emotion. This continued as they announced they would be doing a cover and led into “Crazy” by Gnarles Barkley in a medley with MGMT’s ‘Electric Feel’ with the whole crowd singing along.

Remi also engaged with the crowd and gave us a cool moment when she took to the drums and Conor took the mic. They announced it as the debut of their 1999 metal rock band and was a memorable moment.

As one of the first performances in a long time Remi Wolf brought every aspect of a live show we had been missing. It was upbeat, her vocals and harmonies shined, and there was an easy to feel connection with the lyrics and performance of a great show.

One of the standout moments of the show was the crowd knowing and singing every word to Remi’s week old single ‘Liquor Store.’ After a few songs the show closed with the song that went viral and has over 10 billion views ‘Photo ID.’ It was a strong show in a line of building momentum that the singer has built and will continue to build on track to releasing her album. Remi Wolf is set to be one of pops biggest rising stars in 2021 on her way to becoming a household name, and this show proved that even more.
