Our Favorite Things We Saw at Shaky Knees Day Three

What an incredible weekend that it was at Shaky Knees. Both day one and day two were jam packed of incredible sets, and day three was no different. With another full day of must see acts, we will write about a few of our favorites from Shaky Knees Day Three below.

Stephen Day

I have seen Stephen Day three times now, and each time it is extremely enjoyable. Stephen played the 12:45 set on the Peachtree stage and it was the perfect start of our day. He is an act that continues to get better each time I see him, and this was by far the most confident set that I’ve seen him in. His vocals and skill on guitar shine in his live act.

Colony House

Colony House put on one of the best shows of the weekend. Taking the Peachtree stage at 2:15 the band was electric from the time they entered the stage to ‘Tequila’ by The Champs to their final note. Caleb Chapman had a presence. He was all over the stage and off of the stage. At one point he was even seated on his drummers kit. It brought an insane energy to their midday set. They played their hits like that catchy ‘You & I’ which the crowd joined in singing to, and even a cover of the Ramones song “Blitzkrieg Bop.”

girlpuppy

girlpuppy was an act we couldn’t wait to see at Shaky Knees Festival. The hometown act has seen an incredible rise in the last year. After losing her job at an Atlanta bakery in 2020, Becca Harvey, aka girlpuppy, released her single “For You” which was quickly added to playlists and garnering thousands of streams. Her growth has only continued to skyrocket, and has gained acclaim from Nylon Magazine who predicts a similar artistic leap from Harvey to Phoebe Bridgers. After seeing her live act, there is no doubt that girlpuppy is going to be a household name in indie folk music. Her vocals are incredible, and with a band behind her it shines just as it does recorded. Her lyrics pierce through and even unfamiliar experiences feel oddly relatable. Seeing her play these songs with personal lyrics on a big stage in her hometown was special. Big things are to come from girlpuppy.

Khruangbin

Khruangbin always puts on a wildly eclectic and beautiful show. Seeing them as the sun went down on day three of Shaky Knees was magic. Their music brought a special groove as it always does. The trios set felt nostalgic yet futuristic and every note was a vibe. I remember seeing them as an act that I had never heard of opening for Leon Bridges in 2018 and their climb since then has proven the magic I heard in there music that night. To see so many others jamming with this exciting band on Sunday night, was a total thrill.

Interview duties took us away from a lot of the action on Sunday, but those will be up soon and we can’t wait to share more from this incredible weekend.
