Day one of Governors Ball is in the books. The three-day music festival at Citi Field in Flushing, New York, brought and produced an incredible lineup of artists across multiple genres. Also, to go along with the impressive music lineup they hosted a lineup of food with world class vendors. We are excited to share our favorite acts we saw on day one at Gov Ball.

Paris Texas might be the best set we saw of the day, or at least a favorite. The duo founded in Los Angeles, California whose name was inspired by he 1984 road movie Paris, Texas. Going by the pseudonyms Louie Pastel and Felix the music duo has a hint of Outkast and something that is all their own. They produced a highly-energetic set of music that was hip-hop but also bended genres at times with inspiration from punk rock. The guitar on their tracks made me daydream of seeing an extended set with a full band. Paris Texas catapulted themselves to being one of my favorite artists in hip hop and we can’t wait to see what’s next for them.

Beabadoobee

Beabadoobee’s set was incredible from start to finish. She is a star. The set had everything you want, energy, stellar vocals, impressive guitar riffs, and hit after hit. The Gov Ball main stage was packed to see the young artist thrive and after this set we expect Beabadoobee to be a name that headlines festivals in the future.

JPEGMAFIA

What a set. JPEGMAFIA is a must see live act. The artist was rapping, singing, and even being his own DJ. I’m not sure if it was a creative decision but it was an impressive one. He didn’t slow down the entire performance with insane energy. He sounded good. He made the crowd laugh. Never miss a JPEGMAFIA set if you have the chance.

Black Pumas

Black Pumas was a set we crossed off the bucket list. I’ve always wanted to see them live and they did not disappoint. They brought a special groove the the Gov Ball main stage during golden hour.

Kid Cudi

Everyone knew Kid Cudi would bring it, but I’m not sure people were prepared for how good his set was. The artists set had everything, songs you love, visuals, and even pyrotechnics. It was the perfect set to end an incredible day at Governors Ball.
