June 2, 2023 – Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, the acclaimed American band, has unveiled their latest five-track EP titled “What If I.” The EP, which is now available on Stax, marks the band’s first release since their highly-praised album “The Future” in 2021.
“What If I” features a collection of previously unreleased songs recorded during the sessions for “The Future,” including the captivating new track “Buy My Round.” All the songs on the EP are produced by Bradley Cook, known for his work with artists such as Bon Iver, Kevin Morby, and The War on Drugs. The record also sees contributions from R.M.B., the production trio consisting of Rateliff, Patrick Meese, and James Barone from Beach House. Additionally, the song “Slow Pace of Time” features a collaboration with Charlie Gabriel, the leader and clarinetist of Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
Last night, Rateliff and the band had the honor of performing the National Anthem at Denver’s Ball Arena, marking the start of the NBA Finals series between the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat. Fans can watch and share the performance online.
In addition to their recent release, the group is set to embark on an extensive summer and fall tour, taking their highly praised live show to audiences worldwide. The U.S. leg of the tour includes multiple shows at iconic venues like Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Chicago’s The Salt Shed, and Minneapolis’ Surly Brewing Festival Field. Furthermore, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats are scheduled to appear at renowned festivals such as the Outlaw Music Festival with Willie Nelson & Family, Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival, Sea.Hear.Now Festival, and more. The full tour routing can be found below.
This current run of shows comes on the heels of the band’s recent performance at Willie Nelson’s 90th Birthday Celebration at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. They also made a memorable appearance at Brandi Carlile’s Mothership Weekend at Seascape Resort in Florida.
The Future, the band’s previous album, received widespread acclaim upon its release. To support the album, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats made multiple television appearances, including performances on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” “CBS This Morning: Saturday,” and “Austin City Limits.” Furthermore, Rateliff sat down with Anthony Mason of “CBS Sunday Morning” for an in-depth discussion about the band’s rise to stardom.
Notably, in December of last year, Rateliff & The Night Sweats delivered their largest show to date at Denver’s Ball Arena. The sold-out performance was a significant milestone as it marked their first-ever arena show. The night featured a solo set by longtime friend and supporter Marcus Mumford and Hermanos Gutiérrez, along with a surprise appearance by Amelia Meath of Sylvan Esso.
