Sony Hall was alive on Monday night with fans filling the venue to see the legendary duo of Ghostface Killah and Raekwon. As part of the Vibes Concert Series hosted by Ja Rule the two Wu Tang Clan members took the stage for a sold out show. Fans left the lounge seating to surround the stage that also hosted a live band Raekwon enthusiastically referred to as “the orchestra.”

Ghostface Killah and Raekwon had a natural charisma bouncing off each other as they talked with the crowd. The show was a homecoming for the duo who are famously from New York City, and you could feel that in the crowd. Fans were lined in every seat at the tables and along the walls of the midtown venue. The two began the set with ‘The Purple Tape,’ and it became clear that this was going to be a memorable set.

The duo and live band were also joined by Bobbi Stone who blessed the crowd with her incredible vocals.

Throughout the performance you could feel the decades of experience the two have performing together. They were impressively in sync. The show had elements of improv, but it all felt very familiar. The way the two artists played off one another was dynamic.

Beyond hearing classic songs like ‘Ice Cream,’ ‘Iron Maiden,’ and more, fans got to hear stories from the two legends. From writing together while touring in Europe to stories from Wu Tang, it was special to be able to hear from these two first hand.

Ghostface even offered an almost sermon to the crowd at one point. Talking about his faith in God and encouraging words that you can do anything you set your mind to. It was an inspiring section of the evening. Knowing the story of the iconic rappers made it all the more special. From their start in Staten Island, to World tours, and still their music is causing fans this reaction decades later. It was awe-inspiring and a performance to remember.

The party ended with the host of the event, Ja Rule on stage as the final song was coming to a close. When a concert transforms into a celebration as it did Monday night, you know you were part of an excellent show. Any concert with this dynamic duo is set to be a celebration and a night you’ll always remember.
