Emmit Fenn Plays Dreamy Bowery Ballroom Set – Review

Emmit Fenn is constantly doing fresh and creative things in music. Whether it is hosting an album release party on a hot air balloon or launching an NFT collection inspired by his debut album. However, nowhere does the creativity shine than in the artists live set.

The artist returned to New York City to play an entrancing set at The Bowery Ballroom. Backed by a projector screen featuring things like a pigeon synchronized to the beat stood Fenn and his bandmate Julien Altmann. The two combined for a dreamy night of music.

Earlier this year, Fenn released his debut album Far From Here. The projector screen at times showed the album art of the prism and rainbow road making its way to the floor. Fenn stood at his keyboard while Altmann stood with his violin. The set was expertly done with pulsing beats backed with the smooth vocals of Fenn creating a beautiful balance.

Songs like ‘Lost In Space’ and Fenn’s cover of ‘Yellow’ were particular highlights. Backed like a night sky and starry lighting took fans to another place. Fenn’s music has the ability to transport you and live the experience is even more impactful.

It was great to be able to hear the songs from Fenn’s new album live. The songs are very intimate and seeing them live in a venue like Bowery Ballroom was special. The music not only bonded the crowd to the artist but it was like everyone in the room felt like a friend.

Of his new album Emmit Fenn said, “The main theme of this album is finding hope in vulnerability. With this album, I wanted to be completely open about my past on a very intimate level and show how I’ve grown from it,” says Emmit. “The title of the album ‘Far From Here’ refers to the place that we want to escape to when we feel hopeless and that is what I wish for the album to be for the listener; a place in which they can escape to when they feel like they have nowhere else to go.”

His music truly was an escape. For ninety minutes in Manhattan the songs took you to another place. It was beautiful. Emmit Fenn has the power to do that in person or listening to the recorded version.
