On Saturday, September 30th, American singer-songwriter dv4d returned to Toronto for an electric show. Upgrading from the Velvet Underground to History, d4vd proved exactly why his popularity has grown so quickly. From the moment he appeared on stage, David ran left and right in front of fans, singing passionately and seamlessly. During the second song, he even flipped mid-performance, instantly drawing screams from the crowd.
Between tracks, d4vd charmed the audience effortlessly, thanking fans for coming and tossing out playful shoutouts. At one point, he asked: “Any performative males out there, any matcha drinkers?” He prompted the crowd to sing “This Is How It Feels” as loud as possible, offering Labubus to those who sang the loudest. It’s moments like those that made the night feel intimate, like he was just hanging out with friends while performing iconic hits like “Feel It” and “Here With Me.”
Seemlessly moving between older and newer tracks, d4vd proved why he’s become one of the most exciting names in the rising alternative-pop scene. By the end of the night, History was buzzing, and fans were already hoping he doesn’t wait long to come back (since he’s clearly proven he already can!).
