Long Island-based Indie Rock band Arcy Drive released their sixth single, ‘Rocket Chair,’ from their debut album, ‘The Pit.’ The Pit is highly anticipated and is scheduled for an April 18th release. Rocket Chair joins a list of impressive single releases from The Pit, including ‘Thrift Store,’ ‘Louie,’ and ‘Oak Tree.’
Rocket Chair explores the alienation that comes during the songwriting process of the song and exploration, the band says, “The best writers are the ones who can cut their leash and let their dog roam wild. It’s a matter of letting go and releasing yourself from inner judgment.”
Arcy Drive letting go with their songwriting has been to the benefit of over half a million monthly listeners and their songwriting for this project has stood out. The previously mentioned Oak Tree (Daydream) is a simple yet wonderfully written single. It had elements of nostalgia with lyrics like “Sowed my feet I’m sitting by the big oak tree, Cardinals, jays, all singing, for the yellow bees, Sitting by the big oak tree,Yelling “ollie oxen free”‘
Rocket Chair meets the already impressive bar they’ve set with previous singles. With “say whatever you want to,” emphatically echoing throughout the song backed by strong guitar riffs, Arcy Drive continues to prove they are a band with plenty to say. Something that will be displayed with the release of ‘The Pit.’
In addition to the release of their debut album, Arcy Drive has been on the road with our friends Flipturn, as well as a May European tour with Cassia. The band consists of guitarist/vocalist Nick Mateyunas, guitarist Austin Jones, bassist Patrick Helrigel, and drummer Brooke Tuozzo. Each grew up in Long Island, and Mateyunas and Jones shared music ideas during the pandemic before deciding to take a chance. Helrigel and Tuozzo came shortly after, and the band quickly took off following their 2022 debut single ‘Roll my Stone,’ followed by their 2023 Beach Plum EP.
After quickly gaining traction the band saw slots at the iconic Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and South by Southwest all along their first headline tour.
Now, Arcy Drive fans await the release of the bands debut full length and it is certainly going to be a cant miss album of 2025. Pre-save it here now.
